Conservation Heritage Museum

What started as a retired Game Protector's passion for collecting Pennsylvania Game Commission memorabilia, has now become a destination to learn about Pennsylvania's conservation story.

The Game Commission was established in 1895 - over 100 years ago. Some of the agency's original approaches, based on practices used at the time, have been modified or may have completely reversed course as we learn from past actions and as new technology becomes available. Through various artifacts and vintage photos, we also hope to demonstrate how conservation and wildlife management continue to change as new information and research is gathered.

Join us at the new Conservation Heritage Museum to see and learn more about the evolving journey of conservation in Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania Conservation Heritage Museum is attached to the north end of the existing Visitors Center at Middle Creek. With more than 100,000 visitors each year and the only Visitors Center the Game Commission owns, Middle Creek is the perfect location to showcase such an important story. The museum features artifacts dating back to the formation of the Game Commission and showcases the history of the agency through today. A variety of learning platforms, interactive displays, and hands on exhibits provides visitors with an understanding of conservation history in Pennsylvania, the role of the Game Commission, and actions they can take to further conservation in their lives. With joint funding from the Conservation Officers of Pennsylvania, the Game Commission brings the story of Pennsylvania's conservation history to life at Middle Creek.

The Conservation Heritage Museum and Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area invite you to celebrate the rich conservation history of Pennsylvania by purchasing your very own Brick Paver to be included in a Conservation Walkway and Reflection Area outside of the Conservation Heritage Museum addition. Pavers will be on sale and added to the walkway until the all blank pavers have been replaced.

The passenger pigeon was once the most abundant bird in North America.
