WHAT TO EXPECT:

1-ON-1 INSTRUCTION WITH CERTIFIED INSTRUCTORS:

Archery - At the archery station, attendees will shoot NASP genesis bows at 10 and 15 yards. Also, there will be a novelty shoot with the NASP bows where it will be a challenge to hit the target at an unknown distance to be entered into a drawing for a grand prize. NASP basic archery instructors will be running the range and be able to help with any questions you might have about archery.

Shotgun - At the shotgun shooting station, attendees will have a chance to take aim at flying clay targets. 20 gauge shotguns will be available for use based off comfort level for attendees. 20 gauges have less recoil than 12 gauge shotguns. Clay targets will be thrown from a stationary thrower. Instruction will be available on how to load, aim, and hit more targets using a shotgun.

Rifle - Bolt action 22 long rifles will be used during the rifle station. NRA basic rifle instruction will be available at this station. Attendees will get to shoot at 50 feet replicating NRA sporter smallbore competition. Paper targets will used so attendees will be able to see what score they shot.

Air rifle - Student Air Rifle (SAR) break action pellet rifles will be used. This is a great introduction station for someone looking to take their first shot. Air rifles have no recoil and are quiet so noise is not a factor. The station will be located on the new pistol range at State Game Land 205. Targets will be at 10 yards.

Shooting Simulation ( Laser shot) - PGC hunter education instructors will have the agency laser shot trailer at the learn to shoot event. In the laser shot trailer, attendees will learn basic firearm safety while being able to practice basic shooting skills in a controlled environment.

Gun Cleaning - At the gun cleaning station, attendees will be able to watch demonstrations on rifle and shotgun cleaning. During the demonstrations, attendees will learn how to use solvents, cleaning rods, and pull through brushes to ensure firearms are properly cleaned for storage.
